| Pictures of the standard deep Lanstroth box I
use to start the hive. I fill it with either frames or top bars
with just starter strips. You can peek in and see how the cluster
looks, how they are building comb etc. Very useful. I cut a piece
of 1 by to put in the window and made some toggles to hold it
in place. This is very useful for shakedowns for regressing because
you can see if they are absconding or staying and how they are
doing. The frame around the outside of the observation window
and the handles on all the boxes are from the strip you cut off
of a 1 x 12 to make it 9-5/8". Note the back picture has
a board that keeps the back from becoming an entrance. |
