Default Hummerbee

Considering buying a new Hummerbee. For those of you that have bought one, a couple of questions: did you get the turbo, or the XL, and why? any real need or advantage for the 144" mast vs. the 126" mast? did you get the hold down clamp, and why or why not? what kind of trailer do you use to haul it (capacity of axles)?

Any other comments welcome and appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like you are going through the same decision that I did recently. I finally decided it was worth a few thousand more for the Turbo. In our case it was because I liked the higher rated capacity because we haul honey with larger pallets that can sometimes weigh a ton or more. I was also told that it can handle a 285 gallon tote of syrup if you use a little common sense and care though it is well beyond its rated capacity. I also liked the idea of the larger tires on really rough terrain which we quite often get into. The down side in addition to price is that you are pullling around another 600 lbs. As far as the clamp I didn't get it and don't regret it I suppose if you are going to "truck" hives for a considerable distance it would probably be all right but these machines are so smooth I think it is over kill. As far as the extended mast I opted against that as well, figured I would rarely need it plus it increases the height to over 8' which could be a problem going through some doorways and under low hanging branches. Oh yeah and one more thing it goes really, really FAST!

The turbo model has alot more low end torque . Its no big deal unless you get into a culvert or ditch ,witch I hear the regular one will have a hard time getting out of.
