3 - FRAME OBSERVATION HIVE

Photo and Design by Dave Verville

This is a two frame version, of the hive above, that was made to take along when doing bee talks. The entrance, feeder and second deep brood frame were omitted.

Here is how one feeder for the observation hive was made. An entrance feeder, that can be purchased for under $2 from any supplier, was used as a template. Do away with the metal lip that fits into the hive entrance and just make it square/flat on all sides. Oak was used for the wood pieces that the tin gets stapled/nailed to and a 3/4" hole drilled at the bottom center on the side where it meets the hive. Attach feeder with screws from underneath.
