This is a two frame version, of the hive above,
that was made to take along when doing bee talks. The entrance,
feeder and second deep brood frame were omitted. |

Here is how one feeder for the observation
hive was made. An entrance feeder, that can be purchased for
under $2 from any supplier, was used as a template. Do away with
the metal lip that fits into the hive entrance and just make
it square/flat on all sides. Oak was used for the wood pieces
that the tin gets stapled/nailed to and a 3/4" hole drilled
at the bottom center on the side where it meets the hive. Attach
feeder with screws from underneath. |
